Cornwall 2007 BLOG
Friday 24th
Finally arrived at camp site at 8:50 pm, awful journey as we left Suffolk at 10:00 am - 351 miles !
Pitched tent and made my bed then headed into Polzeath centre to find some tea.
Chip shop was closed, but kebab and Pizza house still serving.
Saturday 25th
Saturday morning arrived all too soon. 7:45am meeting for on the water at 8:00. this is meant to be a holiday !
the waves were described as small and gentle. They looked plenty big enough to me.
The afternoon was spent lazing or in my case shopping, as the cupboard was bare.
Hazel and Steve invited everyone to Chateau Baker for a BBQ to celebrate Chloe's 21st.
The food was excellent, compliments to the chef and his little helper.
At 6:45 we were informed by the camp commandant that we were being too noisy !
As the evening progressed the mist rolled in, eventually we had to retire indside the Chateau Baker
we were entertained by Jethro and Denzil, before being introduced to various drinking games.
The 'Pringle' challenge - how many pringles can you get in your mouth in one go.
the 'MINE' game started, where if you say 'mine' you have to do ten pushups.
Sunday 26th
The early morning paddlers departed, I on the other hand stayed in bed till the sun came out.
A light luncheon was had on site, followed by a walk into Polzeath for some, Others went to Tintagel, and/or Wadebridge.
we all met up again for a paddle around 6:00pm.
We only paddled for about an hour, before the Chairman announced 'it was to busy' and he was going to get dry and warm.
Evening meals were all over. Sam and I heading into Polzeath and found the White Heron, hotel and restaurant.
Monday 27th
early morning paddlers were on the water at 8:00 again. sea state slight, or very few waves.
After the paddle it was off to Padstow, the Pasty-farians needed to soothe their craving.
However the 'MINE' game was still in progress, so be careful what you say !
Evening meal planning was well underway, as the local restaurant could not accomodate a party of 23 it was to be takeaway
we all selected from the various menus, and the Buckmans were to collect for 8pm
Tuesday 28th
The early morning paddlers departed, or so I am told.
Today saw the start of the departures, with canvas neatly folded and stored ready for next time.
Sam and I on the other hand dont go till tomorrow so we just sat and watched....
The evening saw a reduced number of paddlers head down to the beach for the last time.
It as like a mill pond, not a wave to be seen, on the bright side though less people in the water.
Wednesday 29th
Time to pack up and go home.
Hope to see you all next year.......
